Helpful Tips
Grab the 24-hour transport card at any RATBV kiosk. It unlocks unlimited buses and trolleybuses across Brasov. One swipe covers the whole city. No topping up until tomorrow.
Download the RATBV app before you leave WiFi. Buy digital tickets in seconds. Track live buses on routes like 4 to Poiana Brasov. You will wait less. You will ride smarter.
The train station Gara Brasov is 10 minutes south of Old Town by bus 51 or 52.
Taxis here show the fare on the meter. Hail one on the street. If none stop, open Bolt or Uber. Both apps are reliable backups. They cost the same. They arrive faster.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed drivers swarm the taxi stand just outside arrivals. They quote inflated flat rates. Refuse. Demand the meter. Walk 50 m to the official queue. Licensed drivers display badges. Fares are regulated. Pay only what the meter shows.
Shuttle reps lie. They say buses are full. They push private transfers. Ignore them. Check live departures on the airport website. Follow signs to the public bus stop outside the terminal. Buses run on time. Save money.
Kiosks inside the small arrivals hall cheat you. Rates are awful. Old notes appear. Skip them. Use ATMs beside the information desk. Better yet, wait. Exchange cash in the city center. Competition drives fairer rates. Staff have time to count.
